These are the most important features of your tour and trip:

  • Visit of CROC Project in Ilagan, on the island of Luzon;
  • Trekking in Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park, the "last wilderness" of the Philippines;
  • Visit of Agta village, characteristic village of local people;
  • Visit of Divilacan and Palanan.

This tour also allows you to get in contact with local population, which is going to share with you their houses and show you their culture and traditions. You'll be accommodated in both hotels and homestays.

Your day of trek will be more or less like this: leave the camp at 7/8 a.m. and trek until noon / 1 p.m. when we'll have a break for lunch. Around 3 p.m. we'll start looking out for a place to set the camp for the night, at 6 p.m.it is already black as pitch. Of course, during the day, you can ask to stop to take some pictures.

This tour is suggested for those who love the real adventure and want to explore the jungle and admire the old-growth rainforest. Pay attention because this expedition is physically and mentally hard if you are not accustomed with the jungle and the humidness, but at the end of the journey all the efforts will be repaied and you'll be completely satisfied.

    Manila - Ilagan
    Day 1

    Early in the morning we'll leave the noise of Manila heading for Ilagan by our Land Rovers. Ilagan is a town located in the province of Isabela on the island of Luzon. A journey of about 400 km. Overnight in a hotel.

    CROC Project
    Day 2

    Today we'll visit the CROC Project, that aims at re-introducing the Philippine crocodile, the world's most critically endangered species of crocodile.

    Ilagan - Divilacan
    Day 3

    The Land Rover takes us as far as it goes to start our trek towards Divilacan. Today you will enter the Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park (NSMNP), the largest protected area of the Philippines. It contains the largest diversity in terms of genetic, species and habitats of the country.

    Trekking towards Divilacan
    Day 4 - 9

    The following 7 days are dedicated to trekking. We'll trek from secondary jungle to ultra basic forest down to lowland dipterocarp rainforest, and even parts of old-growth rainforest. When we reach the secondary jungle again, we'll be not so far from DivilacanDuring these nights, we'll set camp by a creek or a river and dry our feet beside the camp fire. It'll be an exciting experience. On the seventh day we will arrive in Divilacan.

    Divilacan
    Day 10 - 12

    Divilacan is the first village on our route, we'll stay in an Agta village. During these day we'll have the chance to visit mangrove swamps, swim in the coral reefs, and hopefully we will spot the Philippine crocodile, when we go out with a boat during night time with a flash light.

    This part of Philippines is recognized as the last wilderness, therefore we cannot guarantee any wildlife encounters. Anyway, in the jungle we'll be able to admire Philippines eagle, Philippine Macaque monkey, hornbills, deers, boars, wild chickens and monitor lizards amongst many others. On the coastal area out on the Pacific we might glimpse dolphins, sea turtles, sperm whales, humpback whales, colorful coral fishes, salt water crocodiles and dugong amongst many others. And finally, we won't miss the flights of flying foxes for hunting at sunset.

    The first day in Divilacan we'll enjoy a visit of an Agta village, the second is free at leisure, while on the third we'll go to the ocean with the Agtas.

    Trekking to Palanan
    Day 13 - 17

    The following 5 days are dedicated to trekking. We'll mainly trek through green low-land rainforest. Time permitting, it is possible to spend one extra day inside the old-growth rainforest to explore it according to your personal style. During these nights, we'll set camp by a creek or a river and dry our feet beside the campfire. It'll be an exciting experience. On the fifth day, we'll arrive in Palanan and overnight in a home stay to recharge our batteries.

    Free day in Palanan
    Day 18

    Palanan is the largest village in this coastal area. Here we will visit the Palanan Forestal Dynamic Plot, a scientific research station in the tropical rainforest of the Philippines.

    Today we'll get on board of a banca to go down to Dinapigue.

    Day 20

    Today is our last day, we'll spend it to go back to the capital city, Manila: end of services.

    • By living and eating at locally owned places, we support the area's development
    • You will need to obtain a visa for the Philippines depending on what country you come from, and how long you will stay
    • Vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis is recommended
    • Your backpack will be weighted before we leave for the jungle expedition and you will not be allowed for your own sake to bring more than 15kg
