Welcome to Sri Lanka! After having completed the immigration and custom formalities at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, you'll exit the airport and meet one of our representative at the arrival area. Transfer to the hotel in Negombo, where you'll spend the following two days at leisure.
Negombo is just located 15 km from the international airport and it's the ideal place where to start your relaxing holiday. Here you can enjoy the wide beaches, excellent restaurants and well stocked supermarkets as well as exciting watersport facilities.
Early breakfast and transfer to Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle via the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, an extraordinary project whose aim is to protect the abandoned or orphaned wild elephants. It's is now considered one of the most famous attractions on the island and attracts both children and adults. These animals roam freely within the Sanctuary, the elephants' highlight is their regular bathing sessions in the river. Also Elephas Maximus is an interesting project aiming at producing beautiful paper out of recycled elephant dung. The project spread awareness about the elephants' condition and provides much needed employment to the village community. Maximus Elephant Dung Paper won the World Challenge 2006 conducted by BBC and Newsweek.
There are also plenty of optional activities. You can enjoy a thrilling adventure going on a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, where many and many elephants meet. During the dry season, it is possible to admire up to 150 elephants. The park also includes sambar deer, toque monkeys, several colourful birds, like cormorants and painted storks.
While in Habarana you'll be taken on an elephant back to enjoy a jungle trek and across shallow waters streams.
Your holiday continues near Kandy, where your next accommodation is located: the Victoria Golf and Country Resort, surrounded by the picturesque Kandyan Hills. Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel. Here you'll spend the following two days enjoying all the facilities of the resort.
Today you'll move westwards to reach Kitulgala. This area is characterized by lush vegetation, which includes tropical rainforests, winding rivers and rippling terrains.
Kitulgala is famous for Kelani River, suitable to enjoy rafting and canoeing. Furthermore, the relaxing landscape is enriched by bird calls and the sound gushing waters.
It's time to move to the south to the town of Beruwala, where you'll stay at Eden Resort & Spa for five wonderful days. Here you can completely relax and enjoy the sandy beaches lapped by the crystal-clear Indian Ocean. Children can practice several watersports, such as banana-boating, water-skiing, jet-skiing, windsurfing, on the peaceful Bentota lagoon. You'll have also the chance to admire baby turtles at the Kosgoda Turtle Conservation Project. This latter's aim is to conserve the endangered Marine Turtle species that come to nest in the west coast of the island. You can contribute to the Marine Turtle Conservation efforts through the project in Kosgoda, where you will observe these species without interfering with their natural breeding habits.
During your relaxing days, you can also visit the Galle's Dutch Fort dating back to the 17th century, it's just an hour south of Bentota. The Galle Fort's is a well-preserved structure overlooking the cricket stadium, the lighthouse, the typical colonial narrow streets and several museums.
Sri Lanka offers visa on arrival facility. You need to have a valid passport, two passport -size photo with a light background is required (Immigration Department has not specified the size of the passport-size photo) and electronic travel authorization from Department of Immigration & Emigration (DI&E) of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
