Bangladesh - Useful information for your trip

Bangladesh is a country in Asia, it is one of the most populous countries in the world.

Bangladesh is characterized by the presence of several rivers, which, thanks to the alluvial ground they have deposited, have created one of the most fertile valleys of the entire world. The climate is quite homogeneous and corresponds to a monsoonal tropical climate with mild winters and humid summers. Thanks to weather conditions, the vegetation is lush and presents banana trees, coconut palms and other fruit trees, but also colourful and perfumed flowers with different sizes that make the view of the country incredibly beautiful. Bangladesh also boasts some endemic animals, such as Bengal Tiger, and the most common elephants, monkeys and spotted deer.

Bangladesh is rich in traditions and folk customs, which can be noted in the culinary field, in music and festivals. The traditional Bengal cuisine is based on the use of rice and curry, in order to prepare a large number of courses, as the Panta Illish, which comes from the union of rice and fish, while the most popular festivals are linked to religious beliefs, such as Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha, Durga Puja and Saraswati Puja. Finally, the most common local musical genre is  Baul, where a deep sense of mysticism comes out, willing to reach the union with the divine.

Nowadays Bangladesh is still an underdeveloped country, indeed it is one of the poorest nations in the world. Natural phenomena, as typhoons and floods, are the main obstacles to development of its economic growth. The majority of the population works in the agriculture sector.

Tourism plays a relevant role for Bangladesh. The main sights are the capital city Dhaka, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar. Visitors are attracted by the natural beauties and the amazing landscapes, as well as the rich and important cultural heritage. Charming and relaxing are also its coastlines, which are characterized by long white and sandy beaches and some green palms, offering shelterfrom the sun. The crystal-clear sea is the perfect place for every kinds of water activities.
