Free transfer to the airport and departure for Alice Springs. Arrival and pick-up of the reserved vehicle at the city's depot: a Toyota Landcruiser with unlimited mileage and basic insurance included. Fee transfer to the hotel, accommodation in Room Mountain view. Overnight at the hotel.
Alice Springs, a town with just 24,000 inhabitants, is located at the center of the Australian continent like an oasis in the desert, surrounded by rocky mountains and nestled in an arid landscape of indescribable colors, truly spectacular. The population has a strong Aboriginal presence and, not surprisingly, the center offers numerous art workshops where you can buy beautiful and expensive aboriginals paintings, but also more affordable shops of souvenirs linked to the traditions of the ancient inhabitants of these areas.
Don't forget to visit the Old Telegraph Station, Desert Park, opened in March 1997, located on the Mac Donnel Ranges highlands, a spectacular desert environment and introduction to its typical fauna, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the helicopter emergency service, a reference point for the entire Central Australia, the School of the Air, in which hundreds of young people and children receive schooling by radio.
Today continue to Kings Canyon along Larapinta Drive through the West MacDonnell Ranges. You may want to stop every now and then and take routes of different lenghts, each one interesting in its own way, such as: Simpson Gap, Standley Chasm, Serpentine Gorge, Ormiston Gorge (the longest and more demanding). Beyond the historic town of Hermannsburg, now home to an Aboriginal community, you enter Mereenie Road, a new road connection to Kings Canyon officially opened to tourism just a few years ago.
Along the way you can watch a magnificent scenery: Gosse Bluff. It is an aboriginal reserve officially inaccessible but with tact and education you can access it without problems. You will probably arrive in Kings Canyon just before sunset, do not miss the magic of the colors of the evening on the canyon, perhaps by taking the shortest route within the canyon, leaving the longest and most difficult one for the following morning. Overnight at the resort, in a spa deluxe room.
In the morning opportunity to take a journey of about 3 hours through the valley. Continue to Ayers Rock. Upon arrival in the afternoon the car will be released at the depot at the airport. Meeting with the staff of Longitude 131 ° and transfer to the resort in the middle of the Outback. Accommodation in luxury tents. All meals and activities included.
The symbol par excellence of Australia, the Ayers Rock will reveal all its charm. This mysterious sand monolith is not a rock, but the tip of a conglomerate of pebbles, the bottom of what was an inland lake about 600 million years ago. To the Aborigines, the Rock is the "Holy Place of Dreams", and all around there are cave paintings. It's interesting to observe how the rock drastically changes color depending on the light and time. Past Ayers Rock Resort hotel complex where you will stay tonight, you will enter Uluru National Park (17 AUD) and then travel back rapidly to The Olgas, Aboriginal sacred mountains and then back up to the Ayers Rock in time to admire the spectacle that the setting of the sun creates around the monolith.
Today you will wake up in a luxury tented camp, unique in its style for those who want to enjoy the adventure without sacrificing luxury; 3 km from Ayers Rock Resort, in the heart of Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park, with spectacular views of the monolith. The 15 accommodations in tented lodges are equipped with every comfort, from air conditioning direct phone, from hair dryers to linen bedspreads, cd player, etc. The central part of the "luxury safari camp" is called Dune House and hosts the bar area, the restaurant and a raised observatory covered by a futuristic tent with spectacular sight on Ayers Rock monolith.
