Trekking the volcano

Early morning departure from the hotel in Bali by a private car, that will travel along the scenic western coast, a part of the island that few have the privilege of seeing.

Stop to take some pictures of the rice fields, rustic villages and surf beaches before reaching Gilimanuk. Then, 60 minutes by ferry crossing the Strait of Java.

Lunch during the excursion.

Once arrived, tour in the small town of Banyuwangi: here we will stop at the traditional market and the Chinese Temple.

Late afternoon arrival at the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Departure to Licin Village, then we will move aboard a 4x4 car along the slope of Mount Ijen and through stretches of plantations and rainforest. This one is one of the few that have remained on the island with large ferns and huge trees.

Stop at the Park Renger before continuing the trek to climb to the crater. It will take about two hours to reach the top, along a shady path with breath-taking views. We will stop at about 2383 meters above sea level, where the lake of sulphuric acid reflects its particular colour on the surrounding rocks. It gives an apocalyptic impression to the atmosphere. Here, the men, who once looked for sulphur, used to climb down along the walls of the crater and went back the dangerous ridges with over 80 kg on their shoulders. At the top we will have free time to admire this magnificent environment.

Back to the hotel for lunch. Free time during the afternoon.

Departure for a beautiful coffee plantation established by the Dutch government near Banyuwangi. Here there is a concentration of plantations of coffee, cocoa, clover and rubber. These plantations are handled impeccably and represent the main economic resource of the area.

The visit includes a careful observation of the coffee plant, of the same plantation and everything related to the social and cultural life of those who inhabit this area.

Lunch in a restaurant close to the port and back to Bali.
