This tour takes you to the west coast of Scotland, in North Europe. Passing through the Highlands over to Skye and then up to the isles of Lewis and Harris, you'll admire unforgettable sceneries, characterized by a suggestive and wild nature, and meet local people, which will present their tradition to you.
Departing from Edinburgh (or Glasgow, on your choice) we’ll head west through the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and on towards Kilmartin Glen.
You’ll get lost in Scotland’s incredible nature and history before spending the evening in the incredible coastal town of Oban: seafood capital of Scotland!
Today we'll pass the Connel Bridge through Appin to reach the jagged landscape of Glen Coe, set of the massacre of the MacDonald Clan. We'll pass Ben Nevis, the Britain’s tallest peak, and go on board of the famous Jacobite Steam Train. It takes us over the Glenfinnan Viaduct, made famous by the Harry Potter movies. We'll continue to Mallaig a nice, bustling and remote fishing port. Dinner based on excellent seafood before moving to Skye on board of a short ferry.
Day three is all about Skye! We’ll get the chance to enjoy Sligachan, unforgettable views of the Black and Red Cuillin Mountains and Dun Beag Broch. We’ll also have the opportunity to explore the black houses and enjoy the crashing Kilt rock waterfall, The Old Man of Storr and the Trotternish Peninsula, with its unmissable and colourful harbour town of Portree.
It's time to leave Skye and head to one of the most important sights in Scotland: Eilean Donan Castle, the most photographed in the country. After spending some time exploring the castle, we'll continue further north to Achnasheen, passing Glen Carron and Loch Carron. On the way, it is also possible to experience the scenic Glen Docherty, which looks down towards Loch Maree, once visited by Queen Victoria and home to its very own “Nessie”: Muc-sheilche.
Lunch at Inverewe Garden, famous to host incredible sub-tropical plants.
Before arriving in Loch Ness, where it is possible to take part in an evening cruise, we'll glimpse the amazing Gruinard Bay and the breath-taking Corrieshalloch Gorge and Rogie Falls.
On our final day we stop by the battlefield of Culloden, the site of the defeat of the Jacobite forces. Today we'll enjoy a wee dram at a local distillery. We’ll also travel though the dramatic Cairngorm Mountains National Park and have the chance to explore the picturesque town of Pitlochry, before returning back to Edinburgh.
