Then we will reach Oaxaca, a bustling colonial city founded by the Aztecs.

A full day dedicated to the sightseeing of the city and the archaeological site of Teotihuacan. The ancient Tenochtitlan belonging to the Aztecs, today is a big city with more than 18 million inhabitants, rich in pre-Columbian and colonial monuments.
In particular, we will visit the Constitution Square, also called "Zocalo", which includes significant buildings among which there are the Cathedral, that stands for the largest religious building of the country and the National Palace, seat of the Presidency of the Republic. Inside it, you can admire the frescoes, called 'murals', painted by the famous painter Diego Rivera. Then panoramic tour of the Templo Mayor.
Brief stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of Mexico and major pilgrimage center in Latin America.
Later you will visit Teotihuacan or so called "place where the gods are born" in Aztec language. The Pyramids of the Sun and Moon are imposing and connected to the Temple of Butterflies through the "Avenue of the Dead", the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Citadel.

In the afternoon come back to hotel.

Departure to Puebla by bus and visit of the beautiful city that is rich in colonial history. The Church of San Domenico is popular and it hosts the Chapel of the Rosary, one of the greatest expressions of the Mexican Baroque.
Lunch at restaurant and in the afternoon we will reach Oaxaca through the highway.

All day dedicated to the sightseeing of the city and Monte Albàn. In the morning there will be a visit of the city known as the "Cradle of Patriotte".
During the tour, you will visit the Zócalo, home to the Cathedral and the Church of Santo Domingo. We will continue our sightseeing discovering the ancient Convent of Santa Catalina from Siena and visiting the market, one of the most typical places of the region.

In the afternoon visit to Monte Alban, the religious capital of the Zapotec people. Built on a hill, it is full of pyramids, tombs, bas-reliefs and its panoramic position enhances its beauty.

In the morning visit to Mitla, the ancient center Mixteco, still rich in pre-Columbian buildings.
Then we will continue to Tehuantepec (4 hours).
Lunch.
In the afternoon departure to Tuxtla Gutierrez, capital of the state of Chiapas (5 hours).

Starting from the pier for boarding and the following climb down of the stretch of water created among the Sumidero Canyon. The altitude and the nature of the place make us live an incredible experience.

Continue to San Cristobal de las Casas. Free afternoon.

During the morning there will be a sightseeing to the local market, one of the most typical of the region, where every day hundreds of natives gather to sell their products.
Continue to the church of Santo Domingo characterized by a Baroque style and founded in 1547.
Later we will leave in order to visit the nearby indigenous communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan. The first one is very particular, because in the church you will notice the coexistence of Christianity and pagan rites, while the indigenous zinacantechi are very oriented to Catholicism.
Return to the city and free time.

Departure to Palenque passing through the beautiful and very green sierra. Our itinerary includes a short stop at Waterfalls of "Agua Azul" for a packed lunch or lunch in one of the rustic restaurants.

In the morning we will visit the archaeological site of Palenque.
At the edge of the tropical jungle there is one of the most beautiful Mayan ritual centers of the region that was in operation from the third to the seventh century AD. The famous Temple of the Inscriptions is the place where the tomb of the great lord "Pakal" was discverde. The tomb was adorned with a precious jade mask, an authentic masterpiece of Mayan art.

After lunch we will proceed to Campeche, capital of the same State of the Mexican Confederation. Brief visit of the Old City enclosed and fortified with towers and walls erected to defend the colony from pirates' attacks. Within the old walls, the city boasts, even nowadays, a typical colonial flavor characterized by beautiful patrician houses and austere churches.

Departure to Merida in order to visit the archaeological site of Uxmal where you can visit the ruins of the Mayan city flourished between the third and tenth centuries. Particularly important are the Pyramid of the Magician and the Governor's Palace.

In the afternoon we will drive to Merida, known as the "White City" where residences in French, English and Arabic style are evidence of a past prosperity that came from the trade of the fibers and agave.
Panoramic tour of the Main Square, where you can admire the main monuments of the city: the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the Municipal Palace and the House of Montejo.

Departure for the Mayan Riviera in order to visit the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, Yucatan Mayan capital, flourished between the fifth and tenth centuries AD. Here you can visit the impressive monuments of the northern and central archaeological sites: the temple of Kukulkan, the Temple of the Warriors, the ball game and the shaft of the sacrifices.
