Agra

Agra was the capital of the Mughal Empire from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century and is one of the most famous cities of India.

Every year it is visited by thousands of tourists from around the world who come especially to see the legendary Taj Mahal, declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1983 and described by Rudyard Kupling as 'the embodiment of purity'. The Taj Mahal is not the only attraction of the city.
Agra is also home of  one of the most beautiful Moghul stronghold of all India, Agra Fort, the massive red sandstone complex on the banks of the river Yamuna.

About 40 km from the city called Fatehpur Sikri, the ancient walled city that has been for a short time the capital of the Mughal Empire, is well worth a visit.
