Come discover Nepal and Bhutan, the Himalayan jewels, in Asia, with this private tour and tailormade holiday that will leave you breathless. It will be a journey that embraces all the beautiful Himalayan panoramas, to discover the history, art, culture and ancient traditions that still survive in these lands.

The recommended period for this trip is from October to April: in autumn the sky is clear and offers the best views; the winter months are the freshest; spring is nice in Kathmandu Valley and Pokhara, although the haze can hide the mountains, while in Chitwan and Lumbini the weather is hot and muggy. Summer, from May to September, is the monsoon season and the rains make roads and national parks impassable.

The best times to visit Bhutan are spring (March to May), with the beautiful blooms of rhododendrons, and autumn (late September to late November), with the changing colors of nature. Winter is cold but days are clear and it is the best time for bird-watching; in summer it rains, from June to August, is the monsoon season, the fields are bright green. The Bhutanese call their country Druk Yul, "the Land of the Thundering Dragon", an ancient land that has managed to preserve its great cultural and natural heritage intact. This journey and tour focuses on the western and central part of the country.

The itinerary of the vacation and tour includes:

  • Sightseeing in Kathmandu, the bustling capital of Nepal, boasting priceless cultural heritage, and its valley, which together with Pokhara Valley offers exciting mountain landscapes and relaxing walks that allow to admire the highest peaks in the world from very close.
  • Tour of Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Trongsa, Bumthang region and Wangdue in Bhutan with their beautiful Dzong, the rich monasteries full of myths and legends.

A trip to Nepal and Bhutan requires good adaptability due to long transfers on roads that are not always in good conditions.

    Day 2

Breakfast in the hotel. The morning is dedicated to visiting Kathmandu, the capital and only urban center of the country. Located at 1337 m, it is a city full of contrasts with its urban areas enclosing an extraordinary cultural and artistic heritage. In the center of the old city, founded in the twelfth century by the Malla dynasty, lie historic Durbar Square, the Palace Square, where the city's kings were crowned. It was declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1979.

The ancient royal palace with wooden balconies and windows decorated with fine carvings overlooks Durbar Square and the two neighboring squares, together with Hindu temples and monasteries dedicated to Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver, Shiva the destroyer and regenerator; beautiful buildings with courtyards, such as the Abode of the Kumari, a young girl chosen as the living goddess of the city. All around the maze of the old city streets branches off.

Continue to Swayambhunath, also called "Monkey Temple" for the large colony of monkeys that live there; the largest Buddhist complex overlooks the city, with the watchful eyes of the Buddha surveys the valley in every direction. The hill on which the temple stands was, according to the legend, an island emerged over a large lake that engulfed the entire Kathmandu valley, its historical origins date back to 460 A.C. Lunch in a local restaurant, not included.

In the afternoon visit Patan, the second city of the valley that lies south of Kathmandu, but that was partially incorporated into the capital. Historically it is known by the Sanskrit name of Laliput, "city of beauty", founded in 250 B.C., governed by local aristocrats and finally conquered by the Malla kings. Patan's Durbar Square is full of temples, palaces and buildings, which make up an extraordinary exhibition of Newari architecture. In a wing of the Royal Palace in Patan is the Museum, with an interesting collection of statues of Hindu and Buddhist deities and bronze and copper objects that show the skills of local artisans. Finally visit Jawalakhel, a field of Tibetan refugees that are also skilled carpet weavers. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
