Tuxtla Gutiérrez
Tuxtla Gutierrez is the capital city of Chiapas, the southernmost and poorest state in Mexico. It was the cradle of the zapatista revolution.
In 1994 the citizens of Chiapas decided to create an alternative society with independent education, administration and healthcare due to political instability, that did not recognize to its inhabitants their right.
Nowadays, Tuxtla Gutierrez is a modern city characterized by a modern architecture. Of course, the city also boasts past constructions that testify the presence of other ancient cultures, as the Catedral de San Marcos, built in 1560.
