The itinerary includes:
Rio de Janeiro is one of the cities most quoted in songs. Join singing and get carried away by the Brazilian rhythm of this unique metropolis. Get to know the culture and history of this fascinating city. However, Rio de Janeiro offers magnificent mile long beaches as well, such as Copacabana or Ipanema. Experience the unusual contrast of the biggest lush forest in the world, all within a city.
Neither words nor pictures can justify the awesome power and beauty of the waterfalls of Foz do Iguacu. For thousands of years they have been a holy sepulcher for the tribes of the Tupi Guaraní and Paraguas before being discovered by the "white man".
The region boasts one of the best preserved virgin forests in the country; rich in bromeliads, orchids, cedars and araucarias. In the national park of Iguazu there are sparrow-hawks, woodpeckers, owls, "Macucos" and herons as well mammals like apes, tapirs and otter.
Manaus is the capital of the Amazon and is situated on the river Rio Negro, eleven kilometers from the mouth of the Amazon River. Between 1870 and 1910 the city became well known due to the rubber boom, being the only supplier for a long period of time.
Today, Manaus is not regarded for its uncured rubber anymore but instead for its grand theatre as well as its tour-trips into the very exuberant species-rich virgin forest.
Over these days you'll be accommodated in a lodge located in the Mamori River Region on the banks of the Lake Turtle, approx. 80km southeast of Manaus. It is recommended for people looking to experience and get to know the native Amazon. Here you will experience the people and their way of life first hand. The concept of the lodge is especially known for being a place designed for sustainable tourism.
Around midday you will depart the Turtle Lodge and head back to Manaus. Arrival time will be around 5 pm. The night will be free for your leisure to do as you wish. On the next day your driver will take you to the airport.
In Salvador you will be picked up from the airport by a private driver and head one hour north to Imbassai. The drive will be along the dreamy Coconut coast. Your accommodation is located just 150 m away from a sandy beach nearby the Imbassai River which flows into the Atlantic.
The coast of the beach is very large so it is perfect for taking long walks on the beach. At the beach there are some small bars where you can get something to drink or have a snack. In the center of the village of Imbassai there are some restaurants which are good for going out to dinner. Salvador is the capital of the state of Bahia and was the Capital of Brazil until 1763. Around 5 million West-Africans arrived in Salvador and were brought over by the Portuguese as slaves.
They were taken to Salvador’s central slave market, the Pelourinho and were sold off. The African influence in Salvador is still visible to this day. This can be seen from the language and religion. The fight dance Capoeira is a legacy from this period in time. Salvador is still regarded as the home of the Capoeira.
