During this unmissable tour that will make you immerge both in nature and in the most authentic culture of the country, you can discover the lifestyles of the communities that live around Issyk-kul lake, Unesco's biosphere reserve, share with them daily-life moments, from the preparation of foods to night shows. Moreover, during these nine days, you'll have the chance to listen to stories of Manaschy who sing about the epic hero of the Kyrgyz people, manufacture a carpet combining your personal style and the local method, but also be astonished due to the amazing natural landscapes, treasures that make this country an unmissable destination.
Starting from the capital city, Bishkek, you'll reach Karakol, where every night a kindly local family will welcome you for your overnight. During the itinerary you'll visit:
Arrival in Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, and check-in to the hotel. The afternoon is dedicated to a city tour.
In the morning you'll depart to Karakol, 400 km from Bishkek. Enroute you'll take some breaks to admire some of the most suggestive points and interesting torist places of the country, such as the “Petroglyphs” Open Air Museum. Upon arrival in Karakol you'll be received by a local family, that can belong to the Kyrgyz, Russian, Uigur, Tatar or Dungan ethnic group.
Today you'll enjoy a city tour around Karakol. Starting from the N. Prjgevalski Museum, named after a famous Russian traveler, you'll discover the real Eastern Bazaar and the several products sold here. Then, it's time to go on exploring two religious places: the wooden Russian Orthodox Church and the Chinese-style Muslim Mosque. In the evening cook supper in a Russian family and possibility to enjoy a real Russian folk program during dinner.
Your attention today is focused on the handicraft process, in fact you'll have the unique chance to attend a workshop during which you'll learn how to make a traditional Kyrgyz Alagiiz carpet and, especially, you'll produce one on your own! After lunch you will cook Tatar food and have supper with a local Tatar family.
In the morning you'll reach the picturesque Jety-Oguz Gorge by car, 40 km from Karakol. (During summer there is the opportunity to opt for an overnight stay in a yurta camp in Jety-Oguz). In the afternoon you'll go back to Karakol and cook Kyrgyz food enjoying supper with a Kyrgyz family accompanied by a performance of a traditional “Manaschy” singer. Family run accommodation.
Today you'll enjoy a horse back riding in the Jety-Oguz Gorge, which will least around 3-4 hours. During the excursion, you'll ride along mountain river and forests. Lunch and back to Karakol, on time to take part in the preparation of Dungan food. Change of families.
Enjoy the hot mineral water swimming pool and the wild sceneries at the Altyn-Arashan Mountain (altitude 2350 m). In the evening, supper with a Uigur family and traditional Uigur dances. Change of families.
Depart for Bishkek moving along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake. On the way, you'll stop to visit the Barskoon Gorge with its three waterfalls. Upon arrival in the capital city, check-in to the hotel and overnight.
