Arrival in Bogotà at any time. A member of our team will welcome you on your arrival and take you to the hotel to explain the tour program.
Today you will explore Monserrate and the Candelaria, the city historic district. The Chorro de Quevedo, a small square that marks the site of the original settlement, is sure to charm with its cobblestone streets, bohemian cafés, art galleries and museums, including the world’s largest collection of gold, housed at the Gold Museum. Breakfast is included.
On the way to Villa de Leyva, you'll visit the Salt Cathedral and explore Ráquira, a picturesque town known for a variety of artisanal ceramics and cloth making.
The day is devoted to a full tour of Iguaque Natural Park, this is also an ideal spot for birdwatching, and for observing other flora and fauna. Optional tours available in Villa de Leyva and sorroundings.
Transfer to Barichara. En route visit Socorro, a town described as “the cradle of Latin American independence”. Here Commoners Rebellion began, a movement against the Spaniards and their imposition of taxes on the principal crop. During the night, enjoy a night tour with the yellow lights of Barichara's streets as the backdrop.
Today you'll hike from Villanueva to Jordán, situated in the depth of the Canyon. Excursion is highly demanding and requires 7/8 hours.
The morning is free at leisure, while in the afternoon you'll hike from Jordán to Los Santos. Then, transfer to Bucaramanga.
Free time at leisure in the morning. The afternoon is devoted to the transfer from Bucaramanga to Santa Marta (via BOG).
Your expedition to reach the archaeological site called Lost City starts. You'll need approximately 3,5 hours to reach Camp 1. Arrival in the afternoon.
You'll hike for 4,5 hours and visit Koguis and Mutanyi, two indigenous villages along the trek. Upon arrival at Camp 2, at the source of River Buritaca, you'll listen to a talk about Tayrona culture.
The journey continues along the river to reach the 1,183 steps that lead up to the Lost City. Upon arrival, you'll visit its terraces, stone paths and aqueduct. In the afternoon, you'll return to Camp 3 at Mamo Rumualdo.
Today you'll continue the trek down the mountains to reach Camp 1 again. The journey requires around 7 hours.
Reach the village of Machete, along the banks of the River Mamey and then transfer to Tayrona Park.
