This vacation starts and ends in Bogotà on Day 11. Anyway, if you wish, you can extend the travel package for another couple of days enjoying either Rosario Islands or Mompox.
Arrival in Bogotà at any time. A member of our team will welcome you on your arrival and take you to the hotel to explain the tour program.
Today you will explore Monserrate and the Candelaria, the city historic district. The Chorro de Quevedo, a small square that marks the site of the original settlement, is sure to charm with its cobblestone streets, bohemian cafés, art galleries and museums, including the world’s largest collection of gold, housed at the Gold Museum. Breakfast is included.
On the way to Villa de Leyva, you will visit the Salt Cathedral and Ráquira, a picturesque town known for a variety of artisanal ceramics and cloth making.
Full day tour to explore Villa de Leyva, a beautiful colonial town, with its large central plaza, unique to Latin America. You can admire the white houses with elegant balconies, arches, and front doors.
Transfer to Barichara. En route visit Socorro, a town described as “the cradle of Latin American independence”. Here Commoners Rebellion began, a movement against the Spaniards and their imposition of taxes on the principal crop. During the night, enjoy a night tour with the yellow lights of Barichara's streets as the backdrop.
In the morning hike from Barichara to Guane (low level, 2/3 hours). Guane is a little village with a rich archaeological history. Here you can find a small museum which houses an important collection of aquatic fossils, a Guane mummy, and a variety of other treasures from both the colonial and contemporary periods.
Then, in the afternoon, you'll move back to the city for the tour of Barichara. It is one of Colombia’s prettiest towns, renowned as a fine example of colonial architecture and an oasis of tranquility. The most distinctive features include the cobblestone streets, the rammed-earth houses, the bahereque building style, mud tiles and stone monuments made by well-known Barichara’s artists.
Transfer to Bucaramanga. Today you'll visit the Chicamocha Park and a coffee estate on the way.
Today you'll take the flight to Cartagena (via Bogotà). Upon arrival, free time at leisure.
Today you'll enjoy the walled city in Cartagena. Visit the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, a Unesco World Heritage Site built during the colonial era to protect Spanish interests from invasions by the English and French. Explore Cerro de la Popa, where you will find a church and colonial convent constructed in the 17th century.
