Kampala
Kampala is the capital city of Uganda, in Africa, and is situated in a district bearing the same name. Near the city lies marvellous Lake Victoria, located 1,189 above sea level. Kampala is home to Makerere University, one of the most important institutes in central and eastern Africa, near the hill of Makarere. The city is located on several hills: Makasero is the central one, seat of government and residential area for wealthy citizens.Kampala is also home to the Museum of Uganda, in the district of Kololo, Namirebe Cathedral, Kibuli Mosque and Rubaga Cathedral. Other interesting places are Ssezibwa Falls, Ugandan National Theatre, the market of Owino and the market of Nakasero. The city is also famous for its nightlife and casinos. Kampala's economy is based on manufacturing of furniture and mechanical parts. Coffee, cotton, tea and sugar are exported.
