Mozambique - Useful information for your trip

Mozambique is a country located in Southeast Africa, its only sea merger is on Mozambique Channel.

Under the geographical point of view, the country can be divided into two main macro-areas: North, characterized by the presence of several uplands cutted by Great Rift Valley, and the central and southern part, which are mainly levelled and cutted by several rivers. In spite of the morphological diversifications of the territory, the tropical climate is quite uniform.

Mozambique boasts beautiful and evocative natural landscapes characterized by endemic animal and vegetable species. Its flora includes tropical trees, which luxuriantly cover the country's surface, although the southern area, here and there, is characterized by arid and desert zones. Some of the most common trees are baobab, mahogany, ebony, bamboo and tamarind. Also the fauna is very rich, it includes several primates, lemurs, elephants, rhinos, zebras, buffalos and antelopes, but also many maritime species, such as humpback whales, dolphins and manta rays. The richness of the maritime ecosystem of Mozambique makes this country suitable to practice snorkelling and scuba diving.

In order to fight the phenomenon of extinction and safeguard its natural jewels, Mozambique has established several national parks, natural reserves and protected areas. Some of the most famous and important national parks are Banhine National Park, Gorongosa National Park, Zinave National Parl and Limpopo National Park. The latter is part of a project devoted to the creation of a protected area among Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Moreover, Mozambique is also a country rich in culture and traditions. The music is one of the main artistic and cultural manifestations. Traditional music has some bantu and Arabian references, it is usually played during social cerimonies and parties.

During a trip in Mozambique, unmissable spots are its characteristical villages, as Vilankulos, famous thanks to its market of fruits and vegetables and its typical small shops, or Matswas, inhabited by skilled fishermen, or even Bazaruto Archipelago, a group of five islets with beautiful white sandy beach and sandhills designed by wind. It offers picturesque and idyllic landscapes.
