Ulaan Bataar
Ulaan Bataar is the capital city of Mongolia, situated in the north-central part of the country. Its name literally means "Red Hero". It's located 1,350 metres above sea level, on the banks of Tuul river, and because of its altitude its climate is sub-arctic, influenced by monsoons. Summers are short, while winters are long and extremely cold.
Its center is built in the Soviet architectural style of the 50s and 40s, sorrounded by suburban areas with yurtas, the traditional Mongolian residences.
