From a certain point of view both copulas appear like head and body of a tortoise, therefore, they are called "Piedra de la tortuga". During the walk through the jungle you might even see the famous “24-hour ant”, whose bite hurts 24 hours.
After breakfast, you will start your journey across a savannah dotted with enormous, black granite rocks part of the Guayana Plateau. After 8 hours, you will continue your journey south along a red trail, through a dense jungle to the village of Las Trincheras, where our host will be awaiting you at your lodge, which is situated in middle of the National Reserve Río Caura.
After breakfast, you will go upstream on a “curiara” (native motorised canoe) to reach a virgin jungle and visit typical native villages, where you will learn about native traditions. You will continue your journey to the Cerro Cangrejo, a huge rock ashore the Caura. After a two-hour hike you will enjoy a fantastic view over the river and the deep green jungle. On the way you will have the possibility to see several diverse plants like orchids, bromelias, the quinine tree and the Vanilin plant. With some luck you might even see parrots and toucans.
