- Tour
Discover the most unique place in Iceland embarking on this 2-day Super Jeep adventure to the Landmannalaugar highland paradise. We will be travelling to the most special area this country has to offer and drive over a wide variety of tracks, through breathtaking mountain ranges. (Please note that from middle of May to the middle of June all the roads up to Landmannalaugar are closed while the snow is melting).
On the first day we will start the tour at the Arctic Trucks headquarters in Reykjavík for a short briefing on the adventures ahead. The Arctic Trucks Team will teach you how to drive in different off road conditions, airing down the tires and driving through rivers.
We will visit the Hekla volcano area and Landmannalaugar highland paradise. Mount Hekla is a 1450 meter high and one of Iceland's most active volcanoes. During the Middle Ages, Europeans called the volcano the "Gateway to Hell."
We will drive to Landmannalaugar and to its comfy mountain hut at the borders of a warm river. The extraordinary colors that surround the hut in Landmannalaugar will leave nobody untouched. After relaxing and enjoying a bath in the natural hot river we head to the hut and enjoy a BBQ leg of lamb.
In the morning we will pack all our gear and slowly head back to civilization. We will drive through Hrauneyjar and all the way down to Þjórsárdalur valley. We will take some photo stops on the way, first at Háifoss waterfall, the second highest waterfall of the island that drops here from a height of 122 m. Then we will drive to a gorgeous canyon called Gjáin and the Hjálparfoss waterfall.
We should be in Reykjavík in the late afternoon, just on time for a gourmet dinner in a restaurant.
