Here are the highlights of your dream tour and vacation in this gem of Asia:
Arrive in Solo, the ancient capital of the Mataran kingdom. Once customs formalities have been carried out, set off for the visit of the plain of Prambanan temples, considered the greatest Hindu monument in Indonesia. There are three temples that stand out inside the complex, those dedicated to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, the latter about 47 m high and decorated with bas-reliefs that tell the story of Ramayana. You'll also visit the temples of Plosan and Kalasan.
Continue to Borobudur and check in to Amanjiwo (5 * deluxe), located in the heart of Central Java, in a spectacular natural amphitheater enclosed by the cones of 4 volcanoes, with a view over the majestic complex of Borobudur temples. Accommodation with bed and breakfast in a Borobudur Suite. The resort has thirty-four suites arranged in a crescent on two wings, framed by high limestone walls and vegetation of the lush tropical garden, each with a dome -style roof similar to those of Borobudur temples, richly decorated with marble and precious materials and equipped with all the comforts of luxury accommodations.
The 8 garden suites offer views of the hills and terraces, the 10 Borobudur suites offer a picturesque view of the temple, while the remaining 15 suites are equipped with private garden and pool. The a-la-carte restaurants serve Western and Indonesian dishes, including the house specialty, which is the Makan Malan. Available to guests are also a 40 m infinity swimming pool sorrounded by rice fields, two tennis courts, a library, a gallery, a boutique and a spa offering a wide selection of traditional Javanese treatments, including Mandi Lulur, the traditional preparation (about 2 hours) which Javanese princesses underwent on the day before their wedding. Rest of the day free. Overnight.
Breakfast. Drive to Solo (Surakarta) , located about 65 km from Yogyacarta, ancient capital of the Mataran, one of the most important centers of Javanese culture. City tour including Mangkunegaran Sultan Palace, which houses valuable collections of objects that belonged to the sultans of Solo. Lunch in a local restaurant.
In the afternoon departure for the visit of Candi Cetoh and Candi Sukuh Hindu temples, located approximately 900 meters above sea level on the slopes of Lawu volcano (3.265m), considered sacred by the Javanese people. Built before the spread of Islam, they are considered the most ancient Hindu temples of Java and combine elements of Shaivism and fertility cult with clear references to male and female sex symbols and numerous erotic images. Return to the hotel and overnight.
Early morning wake up to watch the sunrise in the complex of Borobudur. Built entirely of stone and recently restored by UNESCO, it consists of several terraces or stands, decorated with bas-reliefs that tell the life of Buddha and represent the different stages to follow to reach Nirvana. Return to the hotel and breakfast. Rest of the day at leisure to relax or enjoy the cultural activities proposed by the resort. Overnight.
Breakfast. In due time transfer to Yogyakarta airport and flight by Garuda Airlines to Denpasar, Bali. Welcome at the airport and meeting with the guide and with some girls in traditional dresses offering flower garlands. Transfer to Ubud (about 1 hour) and check in to Amandari 5 * L, in a Village Suite with accommodation.
Located in the interior of the island amidst the terraces of rice fields overlooking the gorges of the Ayung River, the Amandari was architecturally inspired by the lines of a traditional Balinese village, a feature that is also visible in the choice of natural materials for the furniture, such as local teak wood, coconut palm wood and river stones. Marble and volcanic stone instead decorate the spacious, open lobby. Thirty spacious suites with one or two floors that reproduce all the warmth of a Balinese house are arranged on both sides of the hall, all featuring a garden courtyard, a sitting area and sliding glass doors that open on three sides, large bathroom with separate dressing area with marble shower and outdoor bathtub.
The 2-floor suites have a queen size canopy bed, while one-floor suites have a king size bed. The valley suites differ from the village suites as they offer views of the Ayung River valley, while the pool suites have a private swimming pool. The restaurant with swimming pools and views over the valley serves a- la- carte local and Western cuisine. Available to guests are a pool of 32 meters, a tennis court, a library, a boutique, a gym and Amandari Spa with beauty salon, sauna and Turkish bath, which offers a selection of beauty treatments such as massages and rejuvenating traditional Balinese masks with volcanic clay, manicures, pedicures and reflexology.
