Banteay Srei
Banteay Srei is a hindu temple belonging to the 10th century.
It is dedicated to the god Shiva and considered as one of the most beautiful and most refined masterwork of the Khmer art in the whole Cambodia. It is situated about 32 km far from Siem Reap, close to the hill of Phnom Dei. It was constructed with local red sandstone and rich in bas-reliefs. It is really well maintained and is rich in realistic sculptures, refined decorations of god and goodness.
Banteay Srei is also called the "Citadel of Women", because in the past a women encampment was set here to defend Angkor.
