Nawalgarh
Located in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan is the pretty town of Nawalgarh. The city was established in the 18th century and features the finest Shekhawati frescos in the entire area. Nawalgarh is often known as an open art gallery, where tourists can see art all over the town. The town features several havelis and a majestic fort. The most prominent havelis in Nawalgarh include the Aath Haveli, Anandilal Poddar Haveli, Hodh Raj Patodia Haveli, etc.
Towards the western side of the garrison is a complex of eight Nawalgarh havelis known as the Aath Havelis. The havelis are known for their unique frescos. Each of the haveli represents a different painting style from the different eras. On one haveli, tourists can see a painting depicting a steam engine whereas on other havelis tourists can see large paintings of elephants, camels and horses. Just opposite to the Aath Haveli complex is Muraraka Haveli. This haveli features fine paintings depicting legends of Lord Krishna. The haveli is usually closed unless there is a function.
