Otranto

Otranto is a town in Apulia, in the south of Italy. The city is located on the east cost of the Salento peninsula.

In the past it was a greek town. Nowadays, Otranto is one of the most beautiful and fascinating city in Apulia, with many worth a visit places located in its suggestive alleys.

The Castle is one of the main attraction in the city; it is characterized by an irregular plan and a trench around the entire perimeter. Not to miss are also the churches. First of all the Cathedral, consecrated in 1088, on the floor lies a big mosaic representing a magnificent tree of life. And then, the church of San Pietro, a little byzantine proof.

Otranto offers also beach-life. In fact, there are several beaches close to the town, they are small and often crowded. If you want to enjoy more beautiful maritime life you have to move a little on the coastline outside Otranto.
